Sharing is Caring

Hello to all of my followers. This week, for class, I am to tell you how to share my blog with people you may know. If you enjoy my blog, you can send the link to a friend of yours that may like the shows that I summarize. You can also post a link to a blog post that I made if you would like. You can read all of my posts and then post on the social network of your choice that you love me and that my blog is “da bomb” or whatever you youngsters say. Basically, if you feel like sharing my stuff, that’s cool. If you don’t feel like it, that’s cool also. Free country, do whatever you want. Well I mean, within reason, let’s not get crazy. You shouldn’t do illegal things. Don’t drive & drive. That’s dumb. I’m rambling. Talk soon. Love you. Oops that was too personal. Bye. Sorry. Love you. Damn it.

GoAnimate

http://bit.ly/12iLqbP

I really did not like this assignment. The software was not user friendly. I make animations in animation software because I’m taking a class for it & this website made it pretty difficult to figure things out. It is hard to edit things compared to software.

BITLY

Here’s a link to my blog: http://bit.ly/1x3zgj7

I’m not too sure what I am supposed to talk about so I’ll wing it. This is a link to my blog. It was created on bitly.com. It is a website that shortens links for you. I think it’s a cool idea because if there is a character limit, this service is a great tool. I see Bitly links on Twitter all the time!

“You elbowed my boobie!”

This is a video clip from the episode of American Dad called “Stanny Boy and Frantastic” The clip is of Stan and Francine. Stan and Francine did not have many friends in this episode so they decided to make some. They stole their daughter’s tickets to a show and sold them at the front door to the couple next to them and this happened. This is one of my favorite episodes and I am glad it came up in the search.

I suppose this video should not be available for commercial use because it is taken directly form the episode. I think it falls in the category of entertainment. It is a small portion of the episode so that favors fair use. I know that, on YouTube, you are allowed to play 10 seconds of a song before your video is flagged for copyright infringement. It is accessible on the Internet so it is falling more towards the “opposing fair use” category. Long story short, don’t steal people work. It’s really shitty to do and super uncool. When somebody makes something, they are proud of it and you should not use it without their permission! Have a good night everybody!

Soooo I Posted Next Week’s Homework

Whoops!

I would say that Tumblr would be the best promotional tool for my blog. I use Tumblr all the time and I have noticed that people that use the website love television shows. I see a lot of Bob’s Burgers being blogged about or photosets of the show being posted. I also noticed a lot of Parks and Recreation on Tumblr as well. I just think that it would be beneficial to my blog to be shown on Tumblr. Tumblr people also watch way too much Netflix. I would know, I am one of those people. They watch so much Netflix and they post about it all the time as well.

If some of the people who followed my blog were to use Facebook as a social media tool instead of Tumblr, it may also be beneficial. Some of their close friends might check it out because they posted it so more people would see my blog. I have looked at some peoples’ blogs on Facebook before and I was not close with them but I still checked it out and that is all that matters. They were cool blogs and I am glad that they posted them onto Facebook.

The Family Guy Effect

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/family-guy-effect

The “Know Your Meme” website describes the “Family Guy Effect” as when a funny meme comes to the Internet, Family Guy will make a joke about it, and it no longer becomes funny. After reading the page I linked, I noticed that Know Your Meme has the wrong definition. The videos they linked in their article (I suppose it’s an article) are all clips of Family Guy where they take something, such as a meme or a bit, and repeat it until it is no longer funny. The perfect example of this phenomenon has to be the scenes where Peter fights the big chicken. I do not find this funny, nor did I ever find it funny but they abuse the shit out of the joke.

I suppose this meme could benefit my blog because I am writing about it right now. If someone were to search for the Family Guy Effect, my blog may show up on the search page and an Internet user might stop by my blog to see what I have written. They can see that I post about Family Guy once a week (loosely haha) and they might follow my blog.

Screencast Assignment

http://bit.ly/16b0DhC

I chose to do my assignment on a blog called “Project Gregory.” Again, like everyone else says, I hate hearing the sound of my voice when it has been recorded. I had never been to the blog before I did the screen recording so I was not very familiar with it. I do not go on blogs, not because I do not like them, I just don’t. I prefer websites, personally.

The actual recording was not difficult. I actually have a YouTube channel with my roommates where we record ourselves playing video games and upload them to YouTube. I don’t want to brag, but we have 19 subscribers so please don’t ask me for an autograph. But in all seriousness, I have had so much trouble in the past with recording screens and voices so I am a pro by now.

I used QuickTime to record my screen and the garageband app on my iPad to record my voice. I used Final Cut Pro to edit the audio and video together. I enjoy editing, it’s nice until you have to hear your voice a ton of times!

Something cool that a lot of people use screen recording software for is How To videos. I could not live with these videos because it is how I learn probably around 80% of the things that I do not know how to use. I think anybody can benefit from screen recording software, with the How To videos I was talking about before. I think that screen recording software is a very awesome tool.

I am not sure what Professor Bridges meant by “what creative projects could benefit from a screencast.”

I also realized that I was “interesting” probably 15 times and it really bothers me to listen to the video now haha. I do think that the screen casting software assignment could have been used for something better than critiquing a blog. I think we should have played a game or something, I think this assignment begs for people to be bored/boring. That’s just my opinion!

Commercial!

Making this commercial was a lot more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I think the biggest problem I had was working up the courage to talk over the music. After getting used to it, I decided, “Hey, who gives a hoot. I may as well go all out.” So I talked in a weird voice and talked to myself. It makes me uncomfortable to listen to it for more than a fews seconds, which made editing it a little difficult. I used Final Cut Pro to edit the sounds together because I am used to the program. The editing was not really the hard part because I actually enjoy editing. I could not think of any songs that would go with my blog so I figured than it would make more sense to string together all seven shows featured on my blog and talk over that. I like writing commercials, it is something I think I would be fun to do as a career someday. I hate commercials that aren’t funny because if you can not get me to laugh, I am probably not going to buy your product (unless it’s a necessity). This was definitely out of my comfort zone and I absolutely hate the sound of my voice, especially on a recording! I will get over it eventually. I hope the commercial makes people want to check out my blog, because I worked hard on it. I think the best part of the commercial is the fact that I used the theme songs for all of the shows that I summarize. People do not usually pay attention to the theme songs, but this commercial helps people to realize that they know all of the words. Leave some constructive criticism to help me improve!

Designing the Header

cropped-weekend3.jpg

I found all of these photos on Google Images. I made my header last week for my website. I did not use Pixlr because I made it ahead of time but I have decided to keep it. The header shows all of the television shows that I will be posting summaries of. The shows are in order of the days I will be releasing the recaps. Monday a will have Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy because they air on Sunday night. Tuesday will have 2 Broke Girls and American Dad because they air on Monday night. The rest of the week I will be summarizing one show a week. It was not very easy to make the header because I do not have proper photo editing software. I used Sketchbook Express to make it and the hardest part was splitting the header into seven equal parts. There was no tool in the editing application for me to measure it so it was done by eyeballing it. I had to try to find images that had the shape of a vertical rectangle so they could sort of fit into their respective box. I did the best that I could and used the “fill” tool to fill in the rest of the box with the background color. I am happy with the header because it is simple but it shows you what the blog is about. I think a good place to use photo editing software for me is in a class I am taking. I started taking Animation 2D this semester and it involves a lot of drawing. If I could use this knowledge of photo editing/creating in my animation class, I think it would be very beneficial to me. The part that came easy to me in designing the header was the actual design of it. I did not have a problem coming up with the final design that I wanted to use.
